Serving the Greater Denver and Boulder Area, including Nederland and mountain areas

Bio:

I got off to a bumpy start with music. My first teacher pretended to be quitting teaching, just so she wouldnít have to work with me anymore. I never practiced the material she gave me, but preferred to work on pieces that I found in an old songbook of my grandmotherís. The girl who stood in front of me at choir used to turn and glare at my off-key singing.

However, when I moved to Paris at age 11, something in me clicked, and I got really into classical music, and ended up training at the prestigious Purcellís School of Music in London, as well as going on to study at the Budapest Conservatory. I learned solid piano technique and music theory, as well as getting the opportunity to develop my voice.

Eventually, I realized that writing my own music and playing in bands was more exciting and better suited to my talents than playing classical music, and I went on to play in a couple of bands and several music projects in the Denver Boulder area.

Over the years, I also ended up studying jazz with Art Lande, and Indian ragas and devotional music with Chaitanya Kabir.

I have transcribed Indian vocal music into Western piano notation, been a musical director at CU, and provided original music for a Thai Massage training video, as well as playing at several music festivals and events in Colorado.
I think my bumpy musical start and eclectic background make me a versatile teacher. Instead of forcing students to work on some one-size-fits-all method, I work to discover the aspiring musicianís unique gifts and interests. I am attentive to the studentís natural learning style, and deliver training in the fundamentals as well as creative aspects of music in a way that works for that personís unique musical fingerprint.

With COVID and social distancing measures being important, we will be holding virtual recitals via Zoom, recitals can be held from the comfort of your own home.

Get in touch with me for a free assessment where I help you discover your or your childís musical fingerprint and see whether I would be a good fit as a coach on this journey of musical self-expression and mastery.

Lessons can be in person, or using Skype or Zoom. My studio is located in Nederland, CO, and I also travel around the Front Range and Greater Denver Area.
